The Rain Bird sprinkler stands as a great tool for wetting your plants. Unlike some sprinklers, this device performs this task automatically. But before you can use this feature, you will have to apply some settings.

Rain Bird Sprinkler Settings Guide

Here are the settings used to control the Rain Bird Sprinkler. But before using our settings, it would help if you filled out the ESP Program Schedule sheet and placed it on the door of the control panel. 

For choosing the Water Schedule:

If you want to choose the days when the Rain sprinkler should water your plant, you will have to adjust the watering schedule. When set, this feature allows you to water your plants on specific days of the week. 

To choose the fixed watering schedule:

Push the Schedule Slide switch to the 2, 3, or 5 marks on the control panel.

  • If you want the watering to occur every other day, push the switch to number 2.
  • If you want the watering to occur every third day, push the switch to number 3.
  • If you want the watering to occur every fifth day, push the switch to number 5.

For setting the current time:

If you want to set the time on the Rain Sprinkler control panel:

  • Switch the dial to “HR”
  • Wait for the current hour to display on the panel
  • Press the Arrow Up or Arrow Down button to change the hour
  • Move the dial to “MIN”
  • Wait for the current minute to appear on the display 
  • Press the Arrow Up or Arrow Down button to change the minutes

For setting the current day:

If you set the days of the week on the Rain bird sprinkler, you can use the following steps :

For the Custom Schedule 

  • Push the Schedule Slide Switch to C
  • Move the dial to DAY
  • Allow the day of the week to appear on the control panel 
  • Use the Arrow Up or Arrow Down button to change the day of the week

For the Fixed Schedule

  • Push the Schedule Slide to 2, 3, or 4 indicator
  • Switch the dial to DAY
  • Wait for “1” ( signifies the first day of the watering cycle”
  • Use the Arrow Up or Arrow Down button to change the current day.

For Adjusting Station Watering Days (for Custom Schedule)

  • Move the dial to “MON”
  • Allow the display to show “MON” and ON ( shows that the selected day is a watering day) or OFF ( shows that the selected day isn’t a watering day)
  • Press the ON or OFF button to make a chosen day of the week a watering day.

For Adjusting Station Run Times (for Fixed Schedule)

  • Set the dial to Station 1
  • Allow the display to show the selected station and its runtime
  • Press the Arrow Up or Arrow Down button to adjust the runtime
  • Twist the dial to move to the next station
  • Allow the display to show the selected station and its runtime
  • Press the Arrow Up or Arrow Down button to adjust the runtime

Is it Better to Run Sprinklers at Night or Morning?

According to experts, it would help if you run sprinklers in the morning (before 10 am). After all this period of the day allows the water to be absorbed by the ground and roots of the plant.

Rain Bird Set Watering Start Time

  • Set the dial to the Watering Start Dial indicator
  • Wait for the “8” to appear on the display
  • Set the additional Start time by pressing the arrow keys
  • Use the “+” or “-” key to adjust the value
  • To set the Start Time for an additional program, press the Program select key, then use the “+” or “-“keys
  • To set the value of the additional Start time, press the Program Select 

How Do You Adjust the Rotation on a Rainbird Sprinkler Head?

If you want to adjust the rotation of the Rainbird Sprinkler head, you can use the following steps:

  • Get a flat-headed screw driver
  • Look for the arc adjustment screw of the sprinkler 
  • Turn the adjustment screw with clockwise movements to increase the arc or turn the screw with anti-clockwise movements to decrease the arc. 

How Do I Reset My Rainbird Control Panel?

If you reset the Rainbird sprinkler, it will clear any settings that might have been stored on the controller. To reset the Rainbird sprinkler:

  • Twist the dial to the Seasonal Adjust indicator 
  • Press and hold the left and right arrow buttons at the same time
  • Wait for CLEARED to appear on the display
  • Twist the dial back to Auto Run
